Classic Sidecar Cocktail

Ingredients:
- 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) Cognac (VS or VSOP)
- 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) Cointreau
- 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) lemon juice
- For the garnish: lemon twist or orange twist
- Superfine sugar* rim, optional
Instruction:
- Cut a notch in a lemon wedge, then run the lemon around the rim of a cocktail glass. Dip the edge of the rim into a plate of superfine sugar.
- Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and shake until cold.
- Strain the drink into the prepared glass. Garnish with a lemon twist or orange twist.
Sidecar Cocktail

Ingredients:
- 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 4 oz. cognac or bourbon
- 2 oz. orange liquor, such as Cointreau or Triple Sec
- 1 1/2 oz. lemon juice
- Orange or lemon twist, for garnish
Instruction:
- Place the granulated sugar on a plate. Dip just the rims of the glasses in water, then dip in the sugar.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the cognac, cointreau, lemon juice and ice. Shake for 10-20 seconds to chill thoroughly, then strain into two martini or coupe glasses. Garnish with an orange or lemon twist.
