We love pulling out our Belgian Waffle Maker – the same one we received as a wedding gift years ago – and making a homemade waffle batter that promises to be the most amazing waffles from scratch you’ve ever had!

I grew up with my mom and dad using everyone’s favorite Bisquick waffle recipe. Bisquick has a wonderful flavor and always turns out amazing. But, I also like to make my pancakes and waffles batter from scratch whenever possible.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instruction:

  1. Preheat waffle griddle.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. This can also be stored and made ahead for later.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and whisk until combined. Let sit for several minutes while iron heats up.
  5. Spray waffle iron with baking spray before the FIRST batch only. Ladle into preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown. For the “DASH” brand, this will be about 3- 3 1/2 minutes each.
  6. Serve and enjoy.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 large eggs (divided)
  • 1 ⅔ cups milk
  • ⅓ cup melted butter (or oil)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instruction:

  1. Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s directions (or to 400°F if your waffle maker has a temperature guage).
  2. Place flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk to combine.
  3. In a small bowl, mix egg yolks, milk, butter, and vanilla extract. Set aside.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, beat egg whites with a mixer on medium high speed until stiff peaks form. *see note
  5. Add the egg yolk mixture to the dry ingredients and stir to combine. Gently fold in the egg whites.
  6. Drop by large spoonfuls onto greased waffle iron until most of the wells are covered. Close the lid and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted )
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instruction:

  1. Preheat your waffle iron and spray with cooking spray or rub a little melted butter on.
  2. Whisk together the dry ingredients – flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs with a mixer until light and fluffy and pale in color.
  4. Add the vanilla to the egg mixture.
  5. Mix the egg mixture into the dry mixture.
  6. Add the butter and milk into the mixture- blending until just smooth.
  7. Let mixture sit for about 5 minutes before adding to the waffle iron.
  8. Pour onto hot iron and cook until golden brown.
  9. Serve topped with pure maple syrup and butter or your favorite fruit and whipped cream.
