Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

FAQ

What makes cookies soft or chewy?

Well, the long and short answer to chewy cookies is it’s all about the moisture content. Cookies that are dense and chewy incorporate more moisture into the batter. This can be achieved by making substitutions with wet and dry ingredients, or even just changing the way you incorporate certain ingredients.

What makes cookies hard and dry?

The most common reason cookies are dry is too much flour. Over-measuring flour is a very common reason for most any baking recipe to fail. If you scoop your measuring cup down into the flour container to measure, then odds are you’re using too much.

How to make chocolate chip cookies?

How to Make Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies Step-By-Step
  1. Beat the butter and sugars, then beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  2. Dissolve the baking soda in hot water and add to the mixture.
  3. Stir in the flour, chocolate chips, and walnuts.
  4. Drop dough onto a prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake until the edges are golden brown.

What is the secret to baking soft cookies?

Baking cookies quickly in a hot oven – at 375 degrees F as opposed to a lower temperature – will make for soft results. They’ll bake fast instead of sitting and drying out in the oven’s hot air. Ever so slightly underbaking your cookies will give you softer results than cooking them the full amount the recipe says.
