FAQ

What is a dirty vodka martini made of?

Stir together vodka, dry vermouth, brine, and olives in a mixing glass. Pour into a glass or shaker with ice. Serve on the rocks, or strain into chilled cocktail glasses. Enjoy!

What makes a Dirty Martini dirty?

The term ‘dirty’ means that olive brine, usually from a jar of cocktail olives, has been added to the drink. An olive garnish is typically assumed, too. Most bars add equal parts vermouth and brine, though you can specify ‘extra dirty’ or ‘filthy’ if you prefer more brine.

What vodka is best in a Dirty Martini?

of Grey Goose vodka and 1.5 oz. of Dolin Dry Vermouth, stirred over ice, strained, and served up with a lemon or grapefruit twist for garnish. Recently I also discovered this Greek vodka called Kástra Elión, which is distilled from olives. It makes the best Dirty Martini ever!

What does it mean to make a vodka martini dirty?

The classic gin or vodka Martini omits the olive brine entirely. The Dirty Martini is where things start to get crazy: Bartenders add a quarter-ounce of olive brine to the cocktail. Add more than that, and you’re slipping into Filthy Martini territory.
