FAQ

What is cannoli dip made of?

Cannoli filling is pure deliciousness. Two different types of Italian cheese—ricotta and mascarpone—are melded together and sweetened with a bit of vanilla and confectioners’ sugar. A sprinkle of mini chocolate chips and this cannoli dip is good to serve with wafer cookies.

Is mascarpone or ricotta better for cannoli?

Ricotta- Ricotta is generally the main filling ingredient in cannoli. Make sure to strain it overnight to remove excess liquid. Mascarpone- This Italian cream cheese provides nice tang and richness to the filling. You can substitute with more ricotta, but I strongly prefer using half mascarpone.

How do you make cannoli dip thicker?

Your cannoli cream is a runny mess. My recommendation at this point is to add about ¼ to ½ cup of heavy whipping cream and an additional 1 – 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Beat with a hand mixer on medium until it thickens up. It will fill more cannoli shells but will save you tossing the soupy filling out.

How do you eat Trader Joe’s cannoli dip?

Freed from the confines of its traditional, crispy, pastry shell, this Sweet Cannoli Dip can be enjoyed in any situation that calls for something extra sweet. Try it as a spread on crackers or short cake, as a layer in a super luxurious trifle, or mixed with berries and melon for a full-flavored fruit salad.
